Allen's family and my family were close friends in Crossett. My brother was his age and in Vietnam at the same time. I was with my parents as we visited Allen's parents before we pulled out to head out west. We got the phone a day or two after we had left Crossett. Thank you for keeping Allen's memory alive and sharing it with us.

Bruce's father was a Hospital Administrator for a Mash unit in Vietnam. His name was Col. John H. Thompson, and he must have seen many of our precious, brave, sons and husbands go through there. I hope all of their families get to hear honoring words spoken of their loved ones like you have done here for your friends. Thank you for reminding us to be grateful for their sacrifice and to honor our veterans.

Thanks to all you for helping us remember what all our veterans and current military men and women have done for us. I say prayers for all of those who going off to Iraq, Afghanistan, and the far reaches where our military stands strong for the American ideals.

When I saw the face of Allen Etheridge's wife as she was walking behind his casket on the way out of the church after his funeral, the reality of his death hit me, and I started crying. I sobbed and sobbed as I left the church with Carrol Herndon. She did her best to comfort me. I did not expect it to hit me that hard. Then there was the twenty-one gun salute to him at the cemetery. That was the first time I had seen that, and it was very impressive. I will never forget that day.
